FRESH MEAT FESTIVAL

This major annual festival of transgender and queer performance is celebrated for its innovation and artistic excellence. The only event of its kind in North America, the Fresh Meat Festival features the nation’s leading transgender and queer dance, theater, music and interdisciplinary performance artists. Advance tickets are recommended for the Fresh Meat Festival (always the third weekend of June), as this popular event sells out quickly. The Tenth Anniversary Fresh Meat Festival will be held June 16-19, 2011 at Z Space at Theater Artaud in San Francisco.

SEAN DORSEY DANCE

Our resident Dance Company performs Artistic Director Sean Dorsey’saward-winning choreography at home and on tour. Dorsey is an award-winning choreographer whose critically acclaimed work is creating new space for transgender and queer bodies and stories in modern dance. Sean Dorsey Dance’s Home Season is in March, and the company is available for national and international tour bookings.  Sean Dorsey Dance premieres Part I of The Secret History of Love March 3-6, 2011 at Dance Mission Theater.

SAN FRANCISCO TRANSGENDER FILM FESTIVAL – TRANNY FEST

Fresh Meat Productions proudly co-presents the annual San Francisco Transgender Film Festival. Founded in 1997, Tranny Fest made history as the nation’s first transgender film festival and continues to make waves by supporting independent, underground and experimental filmmakers. The Tenth Anniversary SFTFF takes place in November 2011 and will feature a performance event and a weekend film festival.

QUEER TRADITIONS

Our Queer Traditions Program commissions transgender and queer traditional artists to create and perform new work for the Fresh Meat Festival. Queer Traditions highlights, celebrates and supports LGBTQ people as important culture bearers and leaders and allows our community to see ourselves reflected in traditional and folkloric arts.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

Fresh Meat works in collaboration with other nonprofit community organizations to co-produce programs and events throughout the year. Fresh Meat Productions is a proud co-sponsor of the annual Trans March, Frameline programs and many other events. We are always looking for new ways to collaborate with and work in solidarity with other transgender, queer and people of color organizations and programs. Contact us for more information…
