ARTISTIC DIRECTOR SEAN DORSEY
Sean Dorsey is an award-winning choreographer and the founder and Artistic Director of Fresh Meat Productions. He has been awarded two Isadora Duncan Dance Awards (2007, 2006) and was recently nominated for a third. Dorsey was recently named Best Dance Performance Troupe in SF Weekly's Best of San Francisco 2008. He was also awarded the 2006 Goldie Award for Performance. Dorsey has been named one of the international dance scene's most promising choreographers by Europe's leading dance magazine,
BalletTanz, and was named one of the Top Ten in Bay Area dance by both the
San Francisco Bay Guardian and the
Bay Area Reporter. Dorsey is the recipient of a prestigious Wallace Alexader Gerbode Choreographer's Commission and has received Individual Artist Commissions from the San Francisco Arts Commission.

powerful fusion of modern dance, text, storytelling and theater. His dances reveal aspects of coming out and living as transgender and queer to evoke universal questions of love, belonging and relationship.
Dorsey's most recent concerts,
Lost/Found (2007) and
The Outsider Chornicles (2006) to sold out houses and significant critical acclaim. These concerts are available for tour bookings. Dorsey is currently choreographing a new concert of work, to premiere November 20-23 2008 at Dance Mission Theater, with the support of a Gerbode Foundation Commission, a San Francisco Arts Commission Individual Artist Commission and Theater Bay Area CA$H support.
Dorsey's work has been presented in San Francisco venues including ODC Theater, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Dance Mission Theater, Theater Artaud, the Jon Sims Center, 848 Community Space and the African American Art and Culture Complex; at the National Queer Arts Festival, West Wave Dance Festival, Fresh Meat Festival, Lesbian and Gay Dance Festival, NY's Fresh Fruit Festival, HomoAGoGo, WOW Festival and Tranny Fest events; and in cities across the US and Canada. Dorsey is Performance Director for San Francisco's Tranny Fest film and video festival and a member of Lizz Roman and Dancers.
